HAZMAT is an abbreviation for Hazardous Materials and these physicals are required by OSHA for any worker who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals or other materials that could cause health problems.
We perform these medical surveillance exams at least every year (sometimes more often) to ensure that your employees have not experienced changes in their health that would indicate dangerous exposure.
A HAZMAT physical is similar to other medical surveillance exams in that our occupational health experts will review your worker’s medical and work history, especially any prior exposure to hazardous materials. We also review your protocols, the employee’s job description and level of exposure to hazardous materials.
Any severe, life-threatening injury or illness should immediately report to the nearest hospital emergency room.
